BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) — The China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) on Thursday called for solid implementation of targeted poverty-relief measures to support the disabled.
This initiative was made to mark the 30th National Day for Helping the Disabled, which falls on May 17 this year.
Disabled persons' federations at all levels were also urged to take actions in accordance with local epidemic prevention and control efforts and sum up experiences in poverty alleviation and helping the disabled.
Local authorities should console families with disabled members and rehabilitation centers, according to a circular issued by the authorities.
The circular also demanded support in terms of starting businesses, employment and education for people living with disabilities.
China in 1991 designated the third Sunday of May as the annual National Day for Helping the Disabled.
